The Iowa men's basketball team overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to defeat No. 13 Texas A&M 73-69 on Sunday in the ESPN Tournament Invitational in Kissimmee, Fla.
Solomon Washington scored 18 points for the Mavericks, while Wade Taylor IV contributed 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half.
Milan Momcilovic scored 15 points for Iowa State, but he struggled from beyond the arc, needing 14 shots to score.
The Maverick defense held the Aggies to just 27 percent shooting in the second half. In the final 20 minutes, Texas A&M was just 2-of-19 from three-point range.
Iowa State point guard Tamin Lipsey continued his stellar rebounding performance, leading the Mavericks with 14 rebounds. He also contributed 10 points and four assists.
Both teams shot well overall, including from the free throw line. Iowa State missed 10 of 25 free throws, while the Mavericks were not far behind, missing 18 of 27 free throws for 67 percent.
The win avenged a loss to Iowa State in last season's Big 12 Tournament championship game. It was also Iowa State's first win over a ranked opponent this season.
