The Michigan Tech Huskies women's basketball team suffered its first loss of the season, falling to the top-ranked Ashland Eagles, 74-67, Sunday afternoon at SDC Arena.
Despite a strong third quarter in which the Huskies outscored Ashland 25-19, the Huskies were unable to overcome the Eagles' offense in the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, Ashland sealed the win with a 20-13 victory over Michigan Tech.
Isabella Lenz scored a Husky-high 19 points, while Alyssa Wypych scored a career-high 16 points. Alex Rondorf and Katelyn Meister scored 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Ashland's Annie Roszak had a team-high 22 points and six rebounds.
The Huskies turned the ball over 20 times in the game, including 10 in the first half. They also struggled to shoot the three-point shot, hitting just 5-of-25 from the field.
Michigan Tech will look to bounce back when they travel to Duluth, Minnesota for a 3 p.m. game this Saturday.
