In the rain-soaked first ODI against England in Antigua, West Indies won easily by eight wickets thanks to a team bowling display and a fast-paced 94 off 69 balls from Evin Lewis. England was knocked out for 209 thanks to four wickets from Gudakesh Motie, two each from Jayden Seales, Matthew Forde, and Alzarri Joseph.

West Indies took the lead in the three-match ODI series after completing the task in 25.5 overs while chasing a revised goal of 157 in 35 overs.

Lewis got the West Indies underway in the chase with sixes off John Turner and Jofra Archer, hitting three maximums in the first ten overs following a weather delay before the start of the second innings. During the first powerplay, Lewis pushed the West Indies to 54/0, thanks to some boundaries and solid help from Brandon King.

Before it started to rain again and the players were pulled off the field with West Indies at 81/0 in 15 overs, Lewis continued to knock six balls, bringing the total to five on his way to a fifty off 46 balls.

The second interruption led to a changed target, while the first did not result in fewer overs. Lewis carried on where he left off by hitting fours and sixes, including two fours and a six against Adil Rashid in the 17th over that helped the West Indies surpass 100.

King gave up a catch in the deep while attempting to put away a short ball from Liam Livingstone, leaving for 30, ending the opening stand, which was worth 118.

Lewis was on track for a three-figure total after reaching eight sixes, but he missed it when he was caught long-off attempting to hit Rashid out of the park. Keacy Carty's undefeated 19 put the final touches on the chase.

England's top-order batters had good starts earlier but could not build on them after being summoned to bat. Seales removed Phil Salt (18) and Will Jacks (19), while Forde quickly removed Jordan Cox (17) and Jacob Bethell (27).

After that, Livingstone and Sam Curran launched a 72-run partnership that drove England's comeback as they attempted to reach a respectable score. Livingstone increased his pace after scoring just 12 of 21, and Curran also found the boundaries as they assisted England in making solid headway.

The descent began when Livingstone was bowled off Motie for 48 after being out caught. After that, England dropped to 187/8 as Dan Mousley and Jamie Overton went off consecutive deliveries to Motie, who also dismissed Curran for 37. England reached 200 thanks to Rashid and Archer, and then Joseph took the final two wickets.
